Cariño Cove

Battery - Fortification

Cove or old battery Cariño which is now in ruins, actually consisted of an old entrenched line on the beach with two flanks of artillery pieces. Anecdotally, note that there are many indications (since heavy artillery pieces were found) that the waters of the cove of Cariño are the remains of the largest ship of the Spanish Armada (The Ragazzona) sunk in this area after a storm on December 8, 1588.
